Information on weighted blankets for your pets:
Similar to the weighted blanket recommendation for us humans, any blanket or weighted product your pet sleeps beneath should be less than 10 percent of their body weight. So, for example, a 10-pound cat shouldn’t be under more than one pound, and a 20-pound pup should only curl up under a blanket that’s two pounds or less.
Another thing about these weighted blankets is that most are made with tiny beads to give them their heft. This could pose a choking risk to pets.
These blankets are made with beads so if your dog is a chewer we do not recommend. Ingesting the beads can cause a medical emergency by blocking the GI track so do not purchase if your pet chews.
In the same way that humans can reap the calming, therapeutic rewards of a weighted blanket, pets can also benefit from using these similar, pet approved sensory products. This is especially true for our sweet fur friends who are prone to anxiety. In dogs, signs of anxiety can include pacing, following you around the house, hiding, shaking, destroying toys or your belongings and vocalizing. They might also experience gastro-related distress such as diarrhea or vomiting, a decreased appetite or even subtle signs like licking their lips or excessive yawning.
“Cats are different in how they show their stress since they are a little more independent,” notes Dr. Countner. “A few signs are hiding, hissing or aggressiveness, urinating outside the litter box, weight loss, over grooming, vomiting and decreased appetite.”
Watch out for those signs, and be sure to reach out to your vet if you notice any to ensure that there is nothing more serious at play. If it’s determined that your pet suffers from anxiety, a sensory pet product could help ease some symptoms.
There are also weighted dog blankets you can try. Just be sure to monitor your pet when they’re trying out the weighted blanket to ensure that they can move around comfortably and easily. If they enjoy the sensation, they will stay and may even seek out the piece of bedding later when looking to snuggle or sleep. You can also place over a crate to give your pet a sense of safety and comfort.

Quality Materials
100% Cotton Fabric and quality, long lasting cuddle fabric.
Hypoallergenic and non-toxic glass beads, the superior weighting material available for weighted blankets.
Quality Construction
These are carefully measured, divided, and quilted so the glass beads are evenly across the blankets to prevent them from concentrating in any certain area. We take extra care to close all seams and double the outside seam to make sure beads will not leak. You do not have to remove anything before washing, nor will you need a cover. Just toss the entire blanket in the wash. You can also machine dry!
