He is looking pretty mischievous! This BEAUTIFUL taxidermy black squirrel is mounted to a piece of wood surrounded by preserved flowers and greenery. It looks like it's climbing down your wall! This is an extremely high quality piece of taxidermy and is particularly unique for having rich, reddish brown fur on the head and arms that transitions into a deep black along the back. species- Sciurus carolinensis
Black squirrels are a melanistic subgroup of squirrels with black coloration on their fur. The phenomenon occurs with several species of squirrels, although it is most frequent with the eastern gray squirrel and the fox squirrel. Black morphs of the eastern gray and fox squirrels are the result of a abnormal pigment gene.
