Shipping & Setup Requirements:
  • Shipped Without Liquid: Due to USPS postal regulations, the jar will arrive empty of fluid.
  • Moisture Protection: The hagfish ships inside a sealed bag with a tiny amount of preservative to ensure it stays damp and does not dry out during transit.
  • Refilling the Jar: Upon arrival, carefully transfer the specimen into the display jar and fill it to the top with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. You can purchase this at any grocery store, pharmacy, Family Dollar, or Dollar General for roughly $2.00.
  • Temporary Storage: If you do not have alcohol ready when it arrives, keep the specimen sealed in its bag with all air squeezed out, place it inside a secondary freezer bag, and store it in your refrigerator or freezer until you are ready to jar it.
Safety Warnings:
  • Display Only: This item is strictly for educational, scientific, and decorative display. It is dead, heavily preserved, and not for human or animal consumption.
  • Personal Protection: Always wear rubber gloves and a face mask when handling wet specimens to avoid direct skin contact with chemical residues.
  • Flammable Hazard: The isopropyl alcohol and trace formalin used to preserve this item are highly flammable. Keep the specimen and liquid away from heat, sparks, and open flames.

** In the Unlikely Event of Shipping Damage:
Please contact us as soon as you receive the damaged item and forward pictures of the damaged item, box and label.  We will then determine the best course of action to correct rectify the issue. 
Per standard carrier rules, postal services now require the recipient to bring the damaged item, the original box, and all original packing material into a local post office for a physical inspection before insurance claims are approved. Once you have the item inspected, simply forward us a copy of the postal receipt acknowledging the inspection and USPS damage, and we will process your refund. 
Our priority is secure packaging, saving us both the stress of dealing with shipping issues and trying to avoid these scenarios entirely!

* Return Policy-Applies only to items that accept returns:
If you need to make a return, please contact us as soon as your item arrives.
Timeline: Return requests must be made within 14 days of delivery, and the item must arrive back to us within 30 days of the delivery date.
Condition: Items must be returned in their original condition and original packaging.
Refund Breakdowns:
Buyer pays return shipping. The original item cost is refunded once received.  Shipping costs are non-refundable.

*Incorrect or Insufficient Addresses:
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout! If an item is returned to us by the carrier due to an incorrect or insufficient address or any other reason:
To Reship: We will happily resend the item to your corrected address once the buyer purchases a new shipping label to cover the secondary postage.  A link for the new postage amount will be sent to the buyer.
For a Refund: We will refund your payment minus the shipping and handling costs, shipping charges are non-refundable.
