Lesser Short Nosed Bat Shadowbox

$99.99

Once our inventory is depleted we will no longer carry bats. There isn’t a clear ethical way to source bats and when we purchased our stock from a retired oddities seller we were not made completely aware of the unethical sourcing despite people who sell bats stating that it was from bat farms or under the guise of pest control when that is not always truly the case. We want to preserve items to celebrate the life of an animal, not destroy them for the sake of art. Due to this we will NOT be buying any more bats in the future once our stock is finished.  We do encourage Schools and Educators to contact us if they would like to purchase for Educational purposes, we will be happy to discount any specimens being used for educational purposes.

*Once our current inventory of any Bat related items has been depleted, we will no longer be offering any Bats or Bat products*

P49a #2.12
This is a real well endowed taxidermy Cynopterus Sphinx framed nicely in a beautiful shadowbox. He rests on a light background to show off his unique shape and would look great in any collection! In all, this display is approximately  10" x 10" x 1 3/4"-

Species: Cynopterus Brachyotis
The lesser short-nosed fruit bat is a species of megabat within the family Pteropodidae. It is a small bat that lives in South Asia and Southeast Asia. It weighs between 21 and 32 grams, and/or 70 to 127 mm.

Cynopterus sphinx is common in tropical forests and areas where fruit crops are cultivated. They can also be found in grassland and mangrove forests. They typically nest high in palm trees. The bats chew the fronds of the palms to constuct fairly simple tents. These bats are also known to construct tents by closely interweaving the leaves and twigs of creeping vines which cover buildings, but such nests are constructed only when palms are not available.
