Species-Pearl Man Face Bug Eucorysses grandis
AKA Death Head bug from the family Scutelleridae. If you look closely you can see his skull like face. Indigenous communities believe that this bug is an omen and death to your family will result if this bug is killed. It was discovered in 1778 by British entomologist Dru Drury. This species masses in dense groups of several hundred on fruit trees and are considered as a pest as they feed on the young shoots and sap of valuable crops such as Cashew trees, corn and cotton. The bright color is said to warn predators of its toxicity.
When purchasing this item you are agreeing to the following: NO CLAIMS FOR SMALL BROKEN PARTS such as antennae (there is never any guarantee or refunds for antennae as they are just too fragile and don't always survive shipping and are too hard to reattach without breaking), detached tails, leg, head, wing or broken tarsi. This sometimes happens in shipping and are an easy fix. With skeletons such as birds, a head or leg can easily be detached and with bats it can be a foot or a head. When it comes to bugs, it is usually the beetle heads, especially horned beetles and Mantis are usually legs or head, other bugs, bees, wasp, dragonfly's, once in a while a leg might shake loose or the specimen release from the post due to temp fluctuations in shipping, all are a very quick fix. These small parts are easily fixable and you should be aware that you may have to fix (glue) a part or two when purchasing items like this and we will direct you through it. These are all natural specimens and may have a leg or part of an antenna missing, I do my best to make sure they are very good but sometimes one gets by me, any damage is very slight and will not effect the looks of the specimen and should show in the pictures. See my feedback for confirmation. I rarely have a problem but even with good packaging it is impossible for us to Guarantee that specimens will arrive totally intact.
